Fluid, liquid and alive

Here is a link to an informative article about Iittala.

"It (glass-blowing) is also one of the most intuitive and unforgiving crafts in the world. “There are no books you can read,” says Per-Henrik Hagberg, Iittala’s factory director. “It’s all about touch and knowing.”

The Wet Collection by Laura Laine

Bones 1 by Laura Laine. Leerdam Glassfactory, 2013.
“The idea of working in glass came about when I was invited in the spring of 2013 to participate in a group exhibition at the National Glass Museum of Holland in Leerdam. I had been invited along with a group of other artists to interpret with new perspectives scientific illustrations by the German zoologist Ernst Haeckel. In addition to myself, a few other participating artists had no previous experience of working in glass.” -Laura Laine.

Laura Laine studied fashion design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki and she received the Young Designer of the Year prize in 2011. (All information from Design Museum, Finland.)

You have time to visit the exhibition till 15 March 2015.
